This blog is about a poem written by Ron Rash titled, "July, 1949". It's about a woman working in a field in the trembling heat and dreaming of another life....
I really enjoyed your blog. You are very creative and tallented. The poem you wrote at the age of 10 is tremendous!! I did not even know the word foe at that age!!
You are sooooo GREAT! Your creative juices were flowing already at the age of only 10! I can only pray that I get a student who writes like you in my future class! I would be reminded of you and that would certainly make my day! I knew from the start that I had chosen the right classmates for our first project on Samuel Sewell. So glad we have met and made a lasting friendship. I'll be asking you to come and do poetry readings to my class someday so keep your calendar open!!! Your poem was so enjoyable. It really made me think. I'm not one for analytical thinking but after I heard the poem read by the author himself, I was hooked! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. You did an awesome blog too!
I have always loved to read and write poetry. Some of my favorite poets are Emily Dickenson, Robert Frost, and Edgar Allan Poe. This blog is about a poem written by Ron Rash that held special meaning to me. This poem, like most poems was written about something very familiar to the author. Those poems usually are the most meaningful. I began writing poems when I was very young. One of my favorite poems that I wrote when I was around 10 years old was called Creatures of the Night.
Creatures of the night, it is a scary sight, when their eyes look so bright, especially at midnight.
As you walk through the woods, you will want to turn back. When you turn you will find, no sign of a track. There is nowhere to go, when all the creatures seem your foe.
There was nothing heard of that person again. The only thing heard was the moan in the wind. Since I live near the woods, I heard of a sight. There was one more creature in the woods that night.
As you can see, I have loved poetry for a long time. This poem may seem simple, but I was raised out in the country and have spent many nights camping outdoors. I think this described the way I felt when I was young. Sometimes I even feel that way now! Poetry is always better to me when it comes from the heart or from experience.
